"Long-term Challenges in a Short-term World" 18th of March
The symposium showed long-term challenges in different areas of the economic and business world. Areas that were covered in the symposium were, among others, Economics, Finance, Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior. How can the government keep the economy healthy on the long term while having to invest billions of Euros on the short term? How does a company ensure that their most valued employees do not leave the company after having invested a lot of money in their education and development? How does an investor deal with speculations of short-term investors on asset markets and the resulting bubbles? How does an enterprise take care that a CEO acts in the best interest of the company instead of merely trying to earn their next big fat bonus?
These, and more, questions were raised on the 18th of March 2010.

Symposium 2009
The symposium of this year took place on the 10th of March, 2009, and had the topic "Micro credits: Will they survive?".
Asset | FIRST International is amongst other responsible for the organisation of the day, making a booklet and the promotion. Therefore there is a symposium committee, which consists of students of the study programmes Business Studies, International Business and International Economics and Finance.
On the 10th of March the trade off between the complaints against the ruling financial system and the possible charity character of the money streams was the central item of the symposium. This was done from a business, a social and a financial perspective. In addition, typical scientific pros and cons of microcredit were discussed. Besides contributions of speakers, we also strived to provide the students with more practical information and an interactive session through offering workshops. The aim of the symposium was to contribute to the quality and quantity of knowledge and insights on microcredit in general and especially to the sustainability of the phenomenon in the future.
